Blogging for Business course...

...reasons for joining a business for blogging course part one.

I am building a photography business outside of my day job as I want a career change and no longer have job security. Over the last two years I have spent a lot of money on advertising and honing marketinig skills but have as yet seen very little success at least since increasing my rates :-)

I heard a blog is good for building your site in regards to search engine search results but it has not been as successful to date as I would have liked. After much research on the web I believe that having a blog as an integral part of a website is essential to marketing success. However the key seems to be in how to use the blog effectively to optimise for search engine optimisation and linking up to social sites, search engine directories and blog directory sites etc. to help propagate my URL and articles around the web.

I have domain names and all my web content served via servage, an Internet Service Provider. I currently have one blog covering all lines of business but I think I would be better off completely separating these businesses.

After some research I believe the best way forward to use Wordpress for my blog as it has many plugins that automatically do tasks to help with SEO. Wordpress can also be used to generate web pages. However it has proved difficult to generate different looking sites from one instance of Wordpress.

I am currently in the process of installing a new instance of Wordpress with the aim of running multiple blogs/websites from the one instance and using one database.

My aims from the course are to fill in any gaps that I may have made so far and learn how to use customise wordpress and create blogs that will be very beneficial for getting people onto my websites and hopefully generate business. I hope these will be covered over this course and the next one on website SEO. I want the be able to create a website with integrated blog that can be styled to look professional and be able to configure to my exact needs although that may be a bit too technical for these course.
